1Q Goal Review Results

Bucketeers, as I mentioned in my last blog entry, I feel like I got slightly derailed on my quarter one goals of 2013 so my first step is to revisit these goals to really determine just how bad things really are…have I done as poorly as I feel I have done? Well let’s see…below I have each of my predefined goals and after each I have documented the current status of the goal…

    First Quarter Goals Revisited

1. Eat at least two meals with true vegetables in them a week. – I currently don’t eat nearly enough vegetables. In thinking through what I eat on a daily basis, I can’t really add up the servings of vegetables I have and that is not good. I don’t want to overwhelm myself or my system, but I do want to commit to eating at least two meals a week with servings of real vegetables (turnips, beans, corn, etc.). I actually accomplished eating at least one meal a week with real vegetables. I have to credit my husband for this as he has made a real effort to include veggies into meals. I do need to do better with this goal because of Beanie, which is why I put it on here to begin with…it just has been harder than I anticipated. Broccoli and beans seem to be my veggie/proteins of choice, but I’m sure the cheese added to them isn’t that helpful lol.

2. Prepare four freezer meals – I am really big into us eating healthier meals and part of the “issue” we have is that we are tired when we get home and just don’t feel like cooking. I successfully made several crockpot “freezable” meals last year and I want to increase the options we have available. ok this one I’m also doing ok in because I did make a batch of my tortilla soup, and made some Dr. Pepper BBQ ribs (granted these didn’t make the freezer…hummm ok scratch the ribs) and I froze some leftover spaghetti sauce. I do have plans to make some lasagna soon and this always yields about four containers. First though I must clean out our freezer so that will really affect the success of this goal…hummmm

3. Prepare four new crockpot meals – crockpot meals have proven to be successful for us so I want to discover and experiment with four new crockpot meals. These may actually double for #2, but the intent is that #2 will be created from meals I already make where as #3, is the creation of new meals. We will see. ok this one I get an F on, but maybe I can redeem myself by getting two in before the end of next month…I can try lol

4. Explore couponing at Harris Teeter – a friend of mine mentioned how great couponing is at harris teeter. I would like to learn how to coupon at this store and give it a try to add to my other stores (Publix and Kroger). I will plan to visit the store at least 4 times in the first quarter. ok this one I kind of started, but not really. I know they have one of their double couponing weeks on right now but realistically I’m not going to make it to the store before it goes off. I will work to read up on their couponing policy before the quarter ends.

5. Post a total of 12 blog entries – I would like to post at least 1 post each week on the blog during the first quarter. I slacked off at the end of last year and I know it is just a matter of me focusing and getting it done. I enjoy blogging and hearing from everyone. Well you guys know how I have done with this one, but I am on the road to redemption. You just might get three posts a week instead of one lol my hope is to exceed this goal and with everything I want to accomplish it shouldn’t be hard to identify posts that won’t waste your time.

6. Drink 64 oz of water daily by the end of the quarter – this is a huge goal for me as I will start and stop and loose focus of this goal. I need to get my eye on the prize and make it happen! It is something that is really important to my health. ok truth on this one is I am probably about a fourth of the way there. I say this because there are days I do great and there are days I completely fail. I was supposed to get the two water bottles, but I haven’t done that yet. I still have time to reach that goal, but I’m not even looking forward to it…I will try though and that’s all anyone can ask of little ol me lollllll. I do think I need to start a goal journal to actually try and track what I do each day with the veggies and the water…hummm that just came to me as I was typing…not a bad idea, I just have to remember to do it lol.

7. Declutter/organize 12 areas in my home – I have a list of things I want to accomplish and I need to complete 12 of those before the end of quarter 1. ok this one I’m doing ok on and I think I can meet this goal by the end of next month. You will see the fruits of my labor soon.

8. Complete 4 cake toppers and present them to two Bakery’s to sale – this is a business endeavor we thought about and began acting on late last year and although I received the materials I haven’t done anything with them. I need to get moving. oh I finished one and the other three are painted soooo I think I can finish the four toppers by the end of next month…I am not sure if we will have them presented by the end of the month but its a goal I can try to meet.

So…after actually going thought the goals and thinking about what I have really done, I haven’t done as bad as I thought! This makes me feel a lot better and I encourage each of you to do this goal review at the end of each month too. It helps you to refocus your energy and gets you ready to start planning for your next quarter. Yes, it came quickly but it’s time to start thinking about quarter #2.

Alright people, until next time…happy goal reaching, we can do it!
